How do I set up my domain name ?

Before you can set up your web site you will need to register your domain name. There are a lot of domain registration companies out there...some with good service and others with very poor service. Beware of unscrupulous hosting and design companies who offer to register your domain at deeply discounted prices. It is important to register your domain name with a legitimate registrar which has a good customer service record and who will make domain transfers and changes as quickly as possible. Another point to remember when you select your domain name registrar is to be certain that your domain name is being registered directly to you and not to your registrar, web design firm or hosting company. If your design company or hosting company registers the domain in their name, you will not be able to switch firms without their permission! Your domain name will belong to them, and they can decide to keep it, sell it to you or delay your transfer to a competing hosting company.
